Annual General Meeting

Sunday, 21 July, 2024, 7 pm – 8.30 pm (Via Zoom)

 

  1. President’s Opening Remarks.

The President, Dr. M. Govindaraju, welcomed members to the 2024/2025 AGM. The meeting, conducted via Zoom, was called to order at 7 p.m. The President explained the aspirations and objectives of spreading the love of the Tamil language and helping fellow Tamils in Singapore. The President also introduced other members and the patrons of the society.

 

  1. Minutes of the AGM held on 30 September 2023.

The president discussed the expenditures and events that were successful and dropped for TYF2024 by the society.

The minutes of the AGM held on 30 September 2023 were accepted by all members present. [Proposer: Mr Thurasingam, Seconder: Ms Jeyanthy]

 

  1. Annual Report 23/24. All members present accepted and adopted the Annual Report. [Proposer: Mr. Thurasingham, Seconder: Ms Wai Anandhi]

 

3.1 The President highlighted the membership details. The total membership in         2024 (as of 15 Jul 2024)

  1. Life members – 39,
  2. Ordinary members – 227,
  3. Associate members – Senior 26 and students 154
  4. Total membership – 446.
  5. Eligible to Vote: 266

 

  1. Annual Accounts for 2023/2024 (From 1.4.2023 to 31.3.2024)

All members present accepted and adopted the Annual Account. The Bank Account balance as of 31.3.2024: $7004.48

  1. Appointment of New MC Members (2023/2004)

With that the Current Management Committee was dissolved and the following new members were elected:

5.4. The above selection of office bearers and members were unanimously agreed, all in favour.

 

  1. Advisor: Dr T Chandroo was proposed by Dr. M Govindaraju, the President.

 

  1. Amendments to the Constitution: The amended constitution submitted after AGM of 2023 to ROS yet to be approved. President said that the society will approach Minister K Shanmugam for his help or assistance.

 

  1. Change of Address of Society. The following address has been proposed as the Society’s new address. It will be submitted to ROS online.

  1. Handing Taking Over of the Committee is to be held on 28 July 2024.

 

  1. Upcoming Events

10.1 National Day Dinner – 17 Aug 2024. It is of utmost importance to our society

to show our loyalty and love to our nation. To be held at SINDA Multi-Purpose

Hall.

  • Pongal Celebrations from 14 January to 14 February 2025
  • Mass Dance (tentatively) on 9 February 2025.
  • Youth Quality Community Circles Contest October 2024 to February 2025
  • Ladies/Men/Senior Citizens Quality Community Circles Contest April 2025

 

 

  1. Sponsorship: The President thanked the following Patrons/Life Members for being interested in sponsoring the Society’s domain, website hosting, and Zoom services.

  1. Other Matters: The President requested all members to recruit more youth and lady members to join the society. The President asked the committee to work in teams to support the upcoming events.

 

  1. Conclusion: Without further subject matters to discuss, the President thanked everyone for their attendance/participation. The meeting ended at 8.30 PM.
